The coordinators of the RATS Youth Triathlon partnered with Impact Earth, Inc. to assist with their Zero Waste event efforts. Impact Earth, Inc. is a Zero Waste education, packaging and event waste diversion services provider. We assisted the coordinators with Zero Waste pre-event planning and day of event series for the RATS Youth Triathlon held on July 18, 2015 at Genesee Valley Park.

The Impact Earth, Inc. "Zero Waste Team" was led by co-founders Robert Putney & Elizabeth Carey. A Zero Waste station was set up during the event and tagged by the co-founders and volunteers from the French Road Elementary School "Tree Huggers" Environmental Club. They all provided triathlon attendees and their families with a Zero Waste educational experience that supported the RATS Youth Triathlon's efforts to provide a landfill diversion option throughout the event site.

Rochester area youth triathlon generated over 96 lbs. of waste materials. Impact Earth diverted up to 87% of that from the landfill.
